Sign the Petition to Support the Dyslexia Task Force Act!

My Dyslexia Task Force Act, A.2185-B/S.441-C, passed the Assembly and Senate!

The bill will establish a statewide task force to examine appropriate and effective evidence-based screening, intervention, and support for students with and at risk of dyslexia and dysgraphia. This is the result of years of work and advocacy and represents the first major piece of legislation focused on dyslexia screening, curriculum, and teacher training that has ever passed in New York, so let's make sure the Senate passes this bill!

This legislation will mandate the Commissioner of the State Education Department to create a task force of educators, doctors, researchers, parents and advocates to examine and recommend the appropriate and evidence based screening methods, curriculum changes and teacher training that should be implemented for all students in kindergarten through 5th grade with dyslexia and dysgraphia.

Sign the petition to let the Governor know she should sign it into law!

Children with Dylexia are very smart given the chance of early help and diagnosis.

My daughter was diagnosed Dyslexic and has struggled for years. For many of those she believed she was stupid, until we received her diagnosis. Now that we know how to help her, she no longer thinks this. If only there had been earlier screening and we knew sooner she would have never had to feel that way. We owe it to our children to find these diagnosis sooner and treat them sooner. Once kids get to 4th grade, it’s 4 times harder to remediate.

My granddaughter was diagnosed with dyslexia , she thought she was stupid before she was diagnosed…the relief on her face when she found out she wasn’t stupid brought tears to my eyes…we need early intervention for these children

YES! Screen the kids and get them into multi-sensory teaching, before the learning gap is created!
